I didn’t want to write about Matthew McConaughey. By the time the assignment came to me, somewhere in 2011, I thought we were too late. In the previous decade, I’d given irreplaceable hours of my life to sitting through McConaughey’s shit movies (Failure to LaunchGhosts of Girlfriends PastThe Wedding PlannerSaharaTwo for the Money, and so on).
